So, I couldn't sleep and my "nerdiness" brought me here to ask this question.
I was watching a movie tonight, called "School of Rock", for those who haven't seen it, it's about a loser rock singer who ends up teaching in a fancy expensive elementary school. During his chat with the principal of that school, he says something like:
"... Yes, I've teached in the best schools in the state"
And I was wondering if that "teached" was an american thing, like "learned" instead of "learnt" or he was deliberately trying to sound uneducated to make the situation fun?

We say "taught" here, so it was a joke to make him look stupid.
I read somewhere that in Trinidad even educated people in say "teached"....

Thanks. It's cool when you can pick up language jokes like this one! Yeah, I loved the movie. I'm not sure if I like Jack Black or not, he's kind of crazy and just by looking at him you can name the many drugs he's into, but he's got a gift with languages and that has always been something I admire in people. If you watch the movie "Nacho Libre" which is not a GOOD movie, you'll be amazed by Jack Black's Spanish, he really learned the sounds and pronunciation really well. Look at this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssuJGJe20FQand keep in mind he probably has no formal education in Spanish, yet he picked up the sounds, even how we mispronounce the word JACK in Spanish and he learned it. It's amazing

Jack Black es uno de los actores como Jim Carey que creo está loco, realmente loco. A veces Jim Carey me asusta. Has visto películas como 'Liar Liar' o 'Bruce Almighty'?

Y Jack Black tambien.
