En un programa de television, dijeron algo como:
"...and now we send them into the deep."
Y lo que me llamó la atención es que "deep" es un adjetivo, no un sustantivo, yo hubiera dicho "depth"
Alguien tiene alguna explicación por qué pudieron haber dicho esto?

This use is primarily literary in nature and sometimes when you refer to the depths of the ocean or the sea you just say "into the deep". Some other references to the word in this context are: - A deep place in land or in a body of water: drowned in the deep of the river.
- A vast, immeasurable extent: the deep of outer space.
- The most intense or extreme part: the deep of night.
